In mwcqornitologia, il mwcggroppone è una parte mwcwanatomica descrittiva esterna degli mwdauccelli, che corrisponde alla parte del mwdqdorso più vicina alla mwdgcodacite-ref-1[1].

I disegni e i colori del groppone possono essere un indicatore della qualità dell'uccello, con colori brillanti correlati a condizioni fisiche, età, successo riproduttivo o qualità del territoriocite-ref-0-2-0[2].

In ornitologia, il groppone può essere un tratto differenziale utilizzato nelle diagnosi, in particolare per quanto riguarda il mwgqdimorfismo sessualecite-ref-0-2-1[2].
